Join GPL for Flower Festival! Flower Festival is a library-wide event with everyone collaborating to make this a colorful culmination to our Summer Reading Program. We are thrilled to be joined by some of our community partners at Albany Pine Bush, YMCA, Gade Farm, Autism Society Greater Hudson Region, and Bring on the Spectrum to provide entertainment, education, programs, and services for the whole family. Thank you to our sponsors, the Guilderland Library Foundation and the Home Depot Foundation.

Have fun reading Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert on our GPL Book Hike! Upon completion of the Book Hike, participants will receive a “Snacktivity” bracelet for a chance to decorate a cupcake with our friends at Bash Parties while supplies last. Dress for mud!

  • BJ the Balloon Twister will provide balloon twisted flowers and animals during Flower Festival! Find BJ in the Literary Garden out back from 11:15 to 1pm, then in the upper parking lot from 1:15 to 2:45pm
  • Scavenger Hunt: Have fun finding native wildflowers on our scavenger hunt located in the Children’s Library!
  • Flower Blind Date with a Book: Check out our floral themed Blind Date with a Book display located near the fish tank starting in August!
  • Bake Sale: The Library’s Sunshine Committee will be hosting a bake sale during Flower Festival! All goodies will be $1, cash only.
  • Tattoo Booth: Get a temporary flower tattoo at our tattoo booth!
  • Meet Our Board: Some of the Library Board of Trustees will be tabling at Flower Festival and are eager to meet you!

Floral Hammer Art

Bring your own canvas tote and turn it into a beautifully stamped masterpiece! Floral Hammer Art will be available 11AM until supplies run out.

Make Your Own Floral Butterfly Frames

Drop in the Westbrook room between 1 and 3 PM to decorate your very own frame. All materials will be provided. First come first serve while supplies last. Please note: this craft is intended for an adult audience.

Kids crafts will take place from 11am to 3pm in the Children’s Program Room

The Myrthtones

The Myrthtones are a musical duo who have performed throughout the Capital Region for over 16 years. Their dynamic range of covers spans from the 1960s to present day pop and acoustic rock, with a little something for everyone! They will be playing in the upper parking lot from 11:30AM to 2:30PM!

Normanskill Strummers

The Normanskill Strummers are a fun ukulele group who regularly meet here at the library! Years ago they did name their community group after using our Normanskill room. Catch them in the Literary Garden from 11 to 11:30am and again from 12 to 12:30pm!

Noise of Summer A Cappella

Noise of Summer is a capital region, NY based a cappella group that was founded in the summer of 2022 by Don Ferlazzo and Betsy Stambach-Fuller. The group is comprised of musicians in the capital region who have performed in numerous different a cappella groups including Hyannis Sound, Buffalo Chips, The Potsdam Pitches, Potsdam Pointercounts, A Sharp Arrangement, The Royal Pitches, Some Like it Hot, SGF Vocal Point, and many more! Our repertoire includes a variety of genres from current pop hits to timeless classics. Catch the group performing on the Book Hike from 11:30AM to 12:30PM and again in the Literary Garden from 1:30 to 2:30PM
