Tawasentha Park, 2025

Acrylic markers and paint on canvas

“When I was conceptualizing this piece, I was trying to capture a representation of Guilderland. My immediate thoughts went to Tawasentha park due to its nature trails and community events, so I went there to find a good composition. Generally, I tried to use bright pinks as well as dark blue hues to create an element of fantasy, blending in more watery colors on the river with a sharper frame of twigs and leaves. I wanted to make the painting more representational as opposed to being overly realistic, so I kept a lot of forms simple and added fish as a nod to the local wildlife. Overall, this was a fun piece to create and I hope it enriches the appreciation for our town as well as the overall atmosphere at the GPL.”

“Primarily a landscape artist, I have been known to include some architecture with some unique perspectives as well as animal life both near and far. Starting in the arts late in life, it quickly became my passion. Whether it’s reproducing an image or simply moving paint around, the act of creating a mood inspires me to keep painting. I generally paint from photographs, but also do some plein air paintings from time to time. While I love the creativity of just moving painting around, my true passion is when I see a composition that provokes emotion. When this happens, I already have a title for it so I just have to paint it!”

“ART defined:  Let it bring a smile and warm your soul. If only for a brief moment, let it last a lifetime!”

Jellyfish, 2025

Acrylic on canvas

“The inspiration for this piece came from the vibrant jellyfish found in the midnight zone, and I wanted to capture the striking colors seen in them. I wanted to give to my community using my talents, so when I heard the library was looking for art, I was ecstatic.”
