Pack up your curiosity and get ready to read outside your comfort zone. In 2026, GPL invites you to join Expedition Book Club, a year-long journey designed to help you explore the many book clubs we offer and discover new reading communities along the way.
Try something new, meet fellow readers, and broaden your literary horizons.
HOW IT WORKS
Did you know that GPL has eight book clubs that meet regularly at the library? Over the next 12 months (January – December 2026), challenge yourself to visit as many different GPL book clubs as you’d like! Every stop on your journey not only gets you a stamp in your book club passport, but new perspectives, lively conversations, and stories you’ll love (or love to hate, who knows!)
Expedition Book Club is open to adults over the age of 18.
PRIZES
- Attend 2 clubs – Expedition Bookmark (earn by January)
- Attend 4 clubs – Expedition Sticker (earn by March)
- Attend 6 clubs – Expedition Magnet (earn by May)
- Attend 8 clubs – Expedition GPL Library Card (earn by July)
Whodunit Mystery Book Club meets on the second Thursday of every month. We read a variety of mystery books, from cozy to noir!
Reading the most talked-about fiction and nonfiction titles. Hybrid: choice of in-person or virtual.

Realm Explorers is a book club that meets on the second Saturday of every month to discuss science fiction and fantasy novels. Titles include Adult/Young Adult books as well as graphic novels!
Silent Book Club meets one Sunday a month except for July & August. Sit by the fireplace, relax with a book (paper, reader, or audio), bring a refreshment, and give yourself permission to read. Comfy blankets encouraged. And YES this counts toward your expedition. See calendar for dates.

Hopeless Romantics Book Club is a romance book club that meets the third Wednesday of every month to discuss swoon-worthy romance titles. The book club covers a wide variety of subgenres from contemporary to historical to paranormal romance!
Join us every other month for the best of Horror and Thrillers.
Read it and Eat! Is GPL’s bi-monthly cookbook club! You pick the recipe, cook the dish, and share with the group! Come to the Information Desk to peruse the featured cookbook and register. Select the recipe you are interested in sharing. Staff will photocopy the recipe and it will be listed with your registration to avoid duplication.
Rainbow Reads is a book club that meets every other month on Tuesday evenings to discuss LGBTQIA+ focused literature. Anyone 16+ is more than welcome to participate!
