The Guilderland Public Library has a wealth of material you can borrow, like books and audiobooks; magazines; DVDs and CDs; or even fishing poles and WiFi hotspots from our gadget collection. You can also use our in-house public computers, or take advantage of our free WiFi to use your own laptop at the Library.

And then there are the things you can do from home: With your Guilderland Public Library Card, you can download audiobooks, ebooks, and magazines; access a wealth of online databases; or learn a new language from the comfort of your living room.

All this is just a Guilderland Public Library Card away.

How to get a library card…

If you reside in the Guilderland Central School District

If you reside in the Guilderland Central School District you can receive a Guilderland Library Card. To get a Guilderland Library card, please stop by the Guilderland Library with your photo ID and validation of your home address.

  • Examples of photo ID are: valid New York State driver’s license, passport, membership card (YMCA) or school ID.
  • Examples of home address validation: valid New York State driver’s license, passport, utility bill, lease agreement, or personal check. Please note: If your mailing address is a post office box you will be required to show proof of your actual physical address.

Library cards are issued to youths, however, a parent’s or legal guardian’s signature is required.

Guilderland Library cards give you access to all Guilderland Library materials and services; access to materials and services of member libraries in the Upper Hudson Library System; is valid for DAP access; and is valid for three years.

If you reside elsewhere in Albany or Rensselaer County

If you do not reside in the Guilderland Central School District you can still receive a library card as long as you reside in Albany or Rensselaer County. To get a library card please stop by the Guilderland Library with your photo ID and validation of your home address.

  • Examples of photo ID are: valid New York State driver’s license, passport, membership card (YMCA) or school ID.
  • Examples of home address validation: valid New York State driver’s license, passport, utility bill, lease agreement, or personal check. Please note: If your mailing address is a post office box you will be required to show proof of your actual physical address.

If you work within the Guilderland Central School District and do not reside within the Guilderland Central School District you can receive a library card! To get a library card please stop by the Guilderland Library with your photo ID, proof of your current address, and validation that your place of employment is within the town’s borders or within the Guilderland Central School District.

  • Examples of photo ID are: valid New York State driver’s license, passport, membership card (YMCA) or school ID.
  • Examples of proof of residence are: valid New York State driver’s license, passport, utility bill, lease agreement, or personal check.
  • Examples of employment validation are: current paystub, work ID, or letter on company letterhead. Please note: If your work address is a post office box you will be required to show proof of the actual physical address.

Library cards give you access to Guilderland Library materials and services for one year. Cardholders may be charged to access additional Upper Hudson Libraries.

IF YOU DO NOT RESIDE IN THE GUILDERLAND CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, ALBANY OR RENSSELAER COUNTY

If you do not reside in the Guilderland Central School District, Albany or Rensselaer County you can apply for an Out-of-System library card. To get an Out-of-System library card please stop by the Guilderland Library with your photo ID and validation of your home address. Note: The Guilderland Library charges for Out-of-System library cards.

If you are a Veteran or in active service and do not reside in the Guilderland Central School District, Albany or Rensselaer County you can receive an Out-of-System library card at no charge.
